Ramu Transmission Reinforcement Project

The Ramu Transmission System Reinforcement Project aims at stabilising the electric supply to Lae and its neighbouring areas.

The Ramu Transmission System Reinforcement Project aims at stabilising the electric supply to Lae and its neighboring areas. The project valued at over PGK 260m, is composed of more than 130 km of overhead 132 kV transmission line installed from Taraka to Singsing, rehabilitation of the Ramu 1 switchyard, construction of a new substation at Singsing with upgrades to substations at Erap and Taraka. HBS has been contracted as the local partner by one of the world’s largest companies in transmission KEC International. Scope of work for HBS includes logistical support, camping accommodation and the complete civil package for both the transmission and substation works – clearing, access, earthworks, concrete foundations.

The competitive advantage that HBS has brought to the project is the backing of HBS Machinery’s dealership. The support is crucial in supplying and maintaining the large requirement of equipment from earthmoving to concrete and crushing machinery. HBS and our skilled civil engineering team look forward to continuing our strong relationship with KEC International, Sojitz Corporation and PNG Power in delivering this most important piece of infrastructure in Morobe Province.
