SGCL – Ore Haulage Contract Simberi, New Ireland

Simberi is the most eastern province of Papua New Guinea some 900 kilometres from the capital of PNG, Port Moresby.

Simberi is the northern most island in the Tabar group of islands in the province of New Ireland -the eastern most province of Papua New Guinea some 900 kilometres from the capital of PNG,Port Moresby. In early 2015, HBS mobilised to site assist themine with hauling ore and waste from their open pits on the island. Hauling on the island is challenging with our
trucks having to navigate the island’s steep elevation of up to 300 metres whilst having to run operations 24/7 in a region that receives a mean annual rainfall exceeding 3 meters with monthly totals of up to 600mm.

Our fleet of Astra 6×6 and 8×6 trucks are purposely specified to suit the mine conditions and they consistently deliver in some of the harshest conditions in the country. Despite these challenges, HBS dependably delivers ore and waste hauling monthly over 200,000 tonnes.

The success of our service delivery comes down to our dedicated team of experienced operators, mechanical team and management support. Our workshop facilities run around the clock and we carry in excess of K1m in parts inventory to keep the wheels turning..
